Business Development Director, Retail
based in Athens

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Director of Business Development to increase company revenue by developing business with key accounts and independent clients. The contender will be accountable for revenue from new and existing clients, while identifying profitable business opportunities and developing long-term business growth strategies. The director will be responsible for developing sales strategy, methodology and tools to achieve long-term partnerships. The ideal candidate must have proven relevant experience especially in retail network development, strong leadership skills and proven financial acumen.

The position reports to the CEO. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Drive the company’s revenue transformation strategy; deepen existing retail partnerships and identify new business opportunities
  • Expand and optimize our network footprint through traditional and innovative sales/ distribution channels
  • Develop our business ecosystem, by expanding the portfolio on-offer through the successful introduction of profitable new products and services
  • Own the yearly Commercial budget and drive optimization initiatives
  • Monitor and analyze competition and pricing trends and make pertinent, analytically supported pricing recommendations
  • Oversee the structure and the performance of the wider commercial Teams through target-setting, on-the-job coaching and performance appraisal processes
  • Oversee Marketing, PR & Communications’ plan, as well as effective go-to-market plans that drive adoption & usage of new capabilities (integrate product performance data, product metrics and user experience, as well as market analysis)
  • Comply with the company policies, code of ethics, and guiding principles at all time.


  • BSc in a relevant field (business administration, sales & marketing management, etc.).
  • Master’s degree or MBA
  • Minimum 10 years of proven B2B sales experience. Previous experience in retail industry highly appreciated.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding aggressive annual sales and milestone targets
  • Experience in managing People and Teams. Able to coach, inspire and empower a team of Sales Executives.
  • Proven analytical skills; experience in P&L management, sales’ incentives and commercialization
  • Strong Executive presence. Expert influencing skills
  • Excellent commercial presentation and negotiation skills – ability to transform leads into concrete business.
  • Excellent spoken and written English / Excellent computer literacy (Microsoft Office applications)
  • Professional use of CRM Salesforce, GIS tools and analytical tools
  • A results-focused, “can-do” mindset and the ability to operate and succeed in a fast-paced, volatile business environment
  • Experience in the payments’ or financial services’ sector considered a plus.
  • Self-starter with passion for networking and sales
  • Travelling requirement, 40%+ of work schedule
